VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN CUTTING TAILORING/DRESS MAKING/DRESS DESIGNING, BEAUTY CULTURE & CERTIFICATE IN COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
The Course of 1 year duration of NIOS for Cutting &Tailoring &CCA and 6 months for Beauty Culture are very popular amongst rural girls/women and for last over 18 years the center at Banikhet is training approximately 100 poor rural girls/women every year. It is proposed to train 120 rural girls/women of remote areas/BPL families residing in the vicinity of NHPC POWER STATIONS and other remote areas of Aspiring District of Chamba during 2023-24 and further (since the course of beauty culture is of six months, admission for this course shall be twice in single year, increasing the total number). All the trainees are subjected to vocational training as per NIOS syllabus for above courses and further subjected to theoretical & practical examinations as per NIOS guidelines and passed out trainees are provided with Govt. of India Certificate at the end of training (Copies of syllabus of courses of C & T, ,DRESS MAKING,BEAUTY CULTURE,CCA as per , NIOS prospectus are also enclosed at annexure G1,G2,G3))..
VOCATIONAL TRAINING/SKILL DEVELOPMENT FOR SELF EMPLOYMENT/LIVLIHOOD ENHANCEMENT AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
For aspiring district of Chamba, considered backward also by central Government in different terms including status of women it is very essential that more and more women/girls of the district are provided with such training courses which shall remain useful to them throughout their life, even after marriage and even if they have to sustain on lone basis in circumstances of husband’s abandoning them and in divorced conditions.
Recently from batch/admissions for 2022-23 it has been observed that the popularity of courses run by YMVT has increased well to far areas also and women/girls from as far away as 70kms have also been attending to pursue these precious Govt run structured courses and in view of difficulties being encountered by such far location girls and the fasct that their sincerity and devotion is for completing the trainings and also the fact that NIOS system has no provision of winter closing of institute,with area being snow fall area ,decision was taken mid stream to establish GIRLS HOSTEL with free boarding and lodging for poor girls(In fact as also stated before,NHPC CO in view of such extra ordinary circumstances and keenness of poor girls proposal has been approved on 14 NOV 2022 for establishing of GIRLS HOSTEL).The fact also remains that many living in rural remote areasfar away from road heads and not well connected by buses etc have remained deprived of such trainings leading to living in same life style as long long back without exposure to development of such useful skills needed in present day by most of the girls folk.IN VIEW OF ABOVE ASPECTS AND TO PROVIDE WIDE COVERAGE,YMVT FROM NEXT YEAR IS VENTURING INTO CONTINUING WITH OPERATION OFGIRLS HOSTEL FACILITY FOR SUCH REMOTE AREA GIRLS (PROVIDING THEM FREE BOARDING AND LODGING FACILITY ALSO)FOR UNDERGOING SUCH GOVT. STRUCTURED SKILL DEVELOPMENT COURSES PARTICULARLY OF CUTTING AND TAILORING,DRESS MAKING AND BEAUTY CULTURE.(20 SLOTS SHALL BE EARMARKED FOR SUCH REMOTE AREAS ADMISSIONS)

Yog Manav Vocational Training Institute is one of the institutes accredited for large number of courses in Northern Region comprising of Cutting & Tailoring, Dress Making, Beauty Culture, PA/PS Secretarial Practice, Stenography, Typewriting, Certificate in Computer Application, Catering Management, Electrician Technician, Fruits & Vegetables preservation, Bakery & Confectionary, Paripoorna Mahila. The Institute is equipped with 10 Nos. computers and Quality Sewing Machines, Typewriters, Electrician test bench and other necessary materials and tools etc. Trust also operates mobile branches for training for remote villages on year-to-year basis depending upon the need of rural youth / community.
Recently NIOS has also issued accreditation for running new two years course diploma in Dress designing which has been introduced for the first time in Himachal Pradesh by this Institute.
More than 1500 girls / women and few boys have passed out various vocational training programmes since 2003. The recent survey conducted reveals that many of its old students have been in employment in State Govt services jor engaged through self employment earning their livelihood and few of them are serving with private hydro project developers / construction companies.
